The Polar Express

Tonight our family took a ride on The Polar Express! Believe it or not, the train to the North Pole departs from Heber Valley at 7:30 pm! It was an eventful ride, with singing, entertainment, elves bringing cookies and hot cocoa, Santa brought each child a silver sleigh bell present, and even Mrs. Claus came and gave out recipes for her world famous chocolate chip cookies. The conductor was a very interesting guy, and Joe talked to him at length (Uh, correction, Joe listened to him at length) as he told about the history of the Heber Valley Railroad. The car we rode in was built in the 1920s, but some were even from the 1890s! Jonathan enjoyed looking out the windows, until the opportunity came up to talk into the microphone (say "Ho, ho, ho"), and then after that he got to know a boy who sat next to us . He and James switched name tags and had a wonderful time together laughing, talking pets, and carousing about. Rebekah and Hannah were the 9 Dancing Ladies from the song, and Susie was everywhere, doing everything. (Afterward, Joe promised the children a small treat from the Gift Shop to eat on the way home). Ah a very memorable trip!
