Family Game Night

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We are thankful for Callie, Steven, and Cora who have joined our family since last year. Also, we're glad Mom and Dad Clayton returned safely with lots of memories and experiences to tell us about their travels. It was nice to meet with some of the Clayton family on game day and catch up on the happenings in their lives. With this being an away year for family this year, we decided before Thanksgiving to meet the day after and have a light dinner, snacks, and games. Elfi is in school and a play and rather tied up and so the party fell to me. Amy and I rallied to get food ready. (This amazing woman also was up at 5:00 doing the Black Friday shopping). Joe also went out to get in on some of the deals to be had and so it was the children, cousins, and me to get ready for the shindig. We decided on soup. I made chili, whole wheat rolls (3 doz.), puff pastry hor'devours of cream cheese and roasted peppers or cream cheese and raspberry/blackberry jam and fresh lemon cream pie Amy brought delicious Chicken Chili, bread sticks, Banana Cream and Chocolate Meringue pie. Lisa brought crisp apples and Beth heavenly homemade caramel and Raspberry Chipotle cream cheese dip and pita crackers! Mom and Dad brought stuffed celery and pies. We really felt the absence of Matt and Melissa (who were home with Baby Cora, Melissa's mom and sister...and Matt working as a pediatrician on call) and Dave and Hyea Won (who did not come--partied out?). Good fun was had by all. We played versions of the Train Game and Beth brought down three of her darling Great Dane Puppies (A Harlequin, Merle (soft gray with spots), and Black/Wh.). Baby Callie was so excited it didn't look like her little body could contain all her excitement over seeing the puppies play. If anyone picked one of them up, she cried. Otherwise it was, "Go! Gooah, goo" sounds.
