- Wash, peel, core, and slice apples into chunks.
- Put into a heavy bottom pan on a medium low heat with about a 1/2 inch to an inch of water in the bottom of the pan.
- Cook on medium, stir often, break into smaller chunks, and cook until the apples go from white flesh to a golden yellow translucent color.
- At this point you can pull off and let cool a little or put into blender hot and process until smooth. Add water until it blends to the consistency you want.
- Add a dash of salt and jazz up with pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon. For a real treat add whipped cream or Cool Whip Lite in a dollop on top. The children love it warm, after dinner.

Applesauce
SOo...Joe was working on refinishing a buffet we got for free (yea) and I stumbled upon a box of apples that we had against a wall. These apples we bought in December probably and have been stored in a cool garage but were beginning to look grumpy...so we made applesauce. Applesauce is super easy and yummy. Give it a try!

Thanks for the great idea! I'll have to try it sometime.
What a great idea! I'll have to try and make applesauce--my girls eat enough of it I'm sure it would be cheaper to make it than buy it all of the time!
